The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) is a web-based system for maintaining information on international students and exchange visitors in the United States. SEVIS is administered by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP), a division of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the largest investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). SEVIS is designed to keep US safe while facilitating the entry and exit process for foreign students in the United States and for students seeking to study in the United States.
All schools and organizations which accept F-1, M-1 or J-1 students or exchange visitors have to comply with new rules imposed by the SEVIS regulations. Internet tracking is mandatory for all such institutions on January 30, 2003.

Uscis Will Continue To Accept Petitions For U Nonimmigrant Status At Any Time. It Is To Be Recalled That The Uscis Had Announced On Sept. 5, 2007 The Publication Of An Interim Final Rule Granting Immigrant Benefits To Certain Victims Of Crimes Who Assist Government Officials In Investigating Or Prosecuting The Criminal Activity.
